Join us for the first annual Salty Splash Classic at King Harbor — a fast-paced, beach-polo-style tournament built to keep the action moving, reward big shots, and create opportunities for exciting comebacks.

GAME FORMAT

Course: 25 meters
Teams: 5 field players + 1 goalie
Game Length: Two 15-minute running-time halves
Halftime: 3 minutes
Shot Clock: None
Timeouts: One 30-second setup timeout per team
Tied Games: Straight to a shootout

SALTY SPLASH RULES

Bonus Scoring

2 Points — Goal scored from on or outside the 8-meter marker
3 Points — Goal scored from on or outside the half court marker half

Splash Back Rule

If a team falls behind by 5 or more goals, it may add a 6th field player. The additional player must enter through the designated exclusion/re-entry area and may remain in play until the deficit is reduced to 3 goals. Once the goal that brings the deficit to 3 is scored, the 6th field player must immediately exit the course through the exclusion/re-entry area.

After Goal Restarts

After a goal is scored, play resumes immediately.

Exclusions

Excluded players must swim to the designated defensive exclusion/re-entry corner, enter the exclusion zone above-water, and may immediately return to play.

If the defending team commits a foul before the excluded player reaches the corner, a 5-meter penalty is awarded.

Fouls

• Personal fouls are not tracked individually
• Two-handed fouls result in an exclusion
• A direct shot is permitted after a foul outside 6 meters
• A direct shot is also permitted from a corner throw

Live Substitutions

Live substitutions may be made from the team’s defensive half.

Lost Caps

Caps are replaced immediately. The player must remain stationary while the cap is being replaced.

TEAM ENTRY INCLUDES

$800 per team

Each team receives:

• 1 official team photo
• Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division

USA Water Polo membership is required for all athletes.
